Mortgage Fraud Investigative Unit Possible

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is closer to establishing a unit aimed at investigating, and ultimately preventing, mortgage fraud in Georgia. Georgia currently ranks fourth in the nation in mortgage fraud. Under the bill the GBI would partner with the Department of Banking and Finance in an increased effort to minimize mortgage fraud.
